“Arroz con Mango”: chaos, identity, and pop culture
The title of the exhibition —a Venezuelan expression referring to a wild mix or unexpected combination— serves as an aesthetic manifesto. In this show, Honys Torres embraced that mix to its fullest:
iconic pop culture characters,
symbols of contemporary consumerism,
references to childhood television,
layers of graffiti, humor, and critique,
and an explosive chromatic palette.
The central installation brought all these elements together: a composition of artworks, objects, and visual fragments that interacted like pieces of a single, chaotic, and delicious narrative. Visitors entered a space where saturation wasn’t noise — it was language.
